Asoebi! Asoebi!! Asoebi!!!
What's the craze about 🤷🏾♀️ the frenzy is even a notch higher these days with the cut neck prices...so to speak and the extra...oh so extra designs we see every weekend.
To help us understand all of these, we have Omotoke Kowobari of Toksfabrics shedding some light on all things Asoebi...
As Nigerians, Asoebi is a very huge part of our events. It's almost impossible to have an occasion without picking a uniform outfit. Asoebi (Aso-Ebi) is a fabric worn at weddings, birthdays, burials and so on. It is usually worn by close friends and family of those celebrating. The asoebi picked for general isn’t even the one we Nigerians tag as asoebi now(so funny) for weddings. We now think the real asoebi is the one the friends of the bride are wearing. They are usually tagged (Asoebi ladies) Then they get to slay in whatever style they like😊
Making a statement at your event would entail you picking a high quality fabric. Basically, there's really no issue in picking an expensive fabric for your event as far as it’s of good quality, because I believe good things aren’t cheap. As far as I can get the worth of my money, I really don’t mind paying for it. But be careful not to turn your friends to money making machines 😁.
Another aspect is the colors, there's not much to say about this, but make sure you pick a color that will suit everyone’s skin😊👌 and make sure it’s a color that will pop😊 because asoebi ladies or men are meant to stand out in every event😊(They are the life of the party).
Trends to expect in 2020😊: Mad styles to be sewn with lace😁 and increased use of Ankara fabrics.
