A wedding dress is both intimate and personal for a woman - it must reflect the personality and style of the bride - Carolina Herrera
Every bride puts in a lot of thought into her wedding dress as it reflects her personality and style and it's important to make the best choice so she's comfortable for as long as she's in the dress.
Fashion Designer Joy Onyekakeyah of ZinneCollection, shares her thoughts with us today;
First off, a wedding should always have a budget, that’s major key. Like I tell my clients you can still have your dream wedding at a gauged cost.
Picking your outfit: 2 major keys in selecting your dream dress are;
Body type
▪️For the Hourglass Figure: The Mermaid Gown Choosing a mermaid gown is a perfect way to celebrate your curves.
▪️For the Pear Shape: A High or Wide Neckline
Women with a pear-shaped body have a smaller chest and shoulders and wider hips and thighs. To balance out this type of figure, draw attention to your shoulders. One easy way to pull eyes upward is with a high neckline.
▪️For the Petite Bride: A-Frame with a V-Neck If you’re in the 5’4″-and-under club, the letters A and V are your best friends. A-line dresses cinch at the waist and flare out, but not quite as much as a ball gown.
▪️For the Tall Bride: The Ballgown It’s easy to feel like Cinderella in the perfect ballgown. If you’re a tall bride, why not embrace your height and feel like you’re in a fairytale with this dramatic style of wedding dress?
Fabric type
Satin, Taffeta, Lace, Tulle, Crepe ...the list goes on and on. Your choice of Fabric should compliment your skin.
Renting/custom made: I personally I’m indifferent about whether a bride should rent or make which takes us back to the number key point BUDGET...
Trends to expect in 2020: I seee the corset taking a front seat in bridal dresses. The timeless plain silk wedding dress is a winner. More floral and beading work 🙌🏽
